Meet the Founder:
Jofflyn Valencia
Jofflyn Valencia’s love of swing dancing began at Disneyland in 1993—not as a cast member, but as a guest. What started as a passion quickly became a lifelong pursuit. By 1995, Jofflyn was teaching private lessons and small-group classes, sharing his love of vintage dance with others.
Throughout his career, Jofflyn has performed in student films, music videos, and as a background dancer in The 13th Floor. His performance credits also include dancing on the Rose Parade float for Ruby’s and appearing as a featured dancer at In-N-Out’s 50th Anniversary celebration at the Greek Theatre.
Jofflyn went on to found the award-winning dance troupe The Bobbysox Brigade, serving as its choreographer, director, and instructor. Under his leadership, the troupe competed, taught classes, performed, and provided interactive party entertainment for private celebrations, birthdays, holiday parties, and corporate conventions. Their clients included Ganahl Lumber, Boeing, and Toastmasters International, and the troupe was also a preferred vendor of Disneyland. Jofflyn’s expertise in the swing dance community earned him an invitation to serve as a judge for the prestigious U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships.
In 2020, Jofflyn brought his passion and experience from Southern California to Middle Tennessee, where he established a weekly swing dance venue and continued offering group classes and private instruction. Today, he leads Music City Rugcutters, sharing the timeless joy of swing dancing through performances, dance lessons, and interactive event entertainment throughout Middle Tennessee and Alabama.
Whether delivering a polished performance, teaching guests their first dance steps, or getting an entire room on its feet, Jofflyn and the Music City Rugcutters bring decades of experience, infectious enthusiasm, and a genuine love of dance to every event.
He has also worked private events alongside renowned bands
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, bringing swing-era energy and showmanship to audiences of all kinds.
